Mavis Discount Tire in Carmel, NY

Had an appointment to have an inspection done on a Subaru Outback. The appointment making process was easy and the car was taken as soon as my wife arrived.I received a call over an hour later from one of the employees, stating that her car had failed the inspection. According to him, her tires were "low", with me being asked if I wanted to "address that" today. The tires were measured at 4/32" and 5/32" respectively by me that morning with even wear on each tire (two were newer) and the state requires 2/32" to pass inspection.He also stated that the front brakes were "low" as well, however when I pulled them apart to check after, the pads measured 5mm each. He asked me if I wanted to "address" those as well, for a neat $650.The next comment was about her suspension. He claimed that because the tires were "so worn", it must be bad. Therefore it would also fail the inspection and should be replaced. He offered to replace the front suspension, but did not give a price. On inspection at home after, the struts were intact with no sign of damage or leaking and no abnormal noises on articulation and the coils were intact without excessive rust.Lastly, and the only thing he said that was accurate, was that the left rear brake light was out - which had gone out on the way to the shop.As a side note, the vehicle was also at a Subaru dealership within the last week to have a code cleared after replacement of a steering angle sensor. It received a full inspection there as well, passing every field, though they weren't able to do the state inspection as they were located in CT.This experience was a disgrace to mechanics everywhere. Avoid it like the plague.

Briana provided excellent customer service as always, came here to get my car serviced after hearing she left the last location in Pawling. Her training of her staff is presently apparent as they all welcome you with a smile and are very knowledgeable. Their communication is unlike any other location, and I will continue to move from store to store with her.

I had a great and comfortable experience at this location Edith who was in the front welcomed me with a friendly hello and as I explained what I was there for she recommended other services my car may need I took her recommendations and let her and the mechanics do their job in no time I was on my way out. They are professional, fast and no headaches I would definitely recommend to family and friends and will return in the future
