I was looking to buy two basic tires for an older car as a gift for a family member. I called ahead for an estimate, and the person on the other end quoted a price of $215 for everything. I agreed to that price and scheduled an appointment.When I arrived at the shop, however, the price suddenly jumped from $215 to nearly $300 in just 30 seconds. I received three different price quotes during that time. The representative offered me a "discount" that brought the price down to $270. To save time, I reluctantly agreed to that price and told them I would return later to pick up the car.Once I got home, I compared prices with other shops and decided to cancel my order with Mavis and purchase the tires elsewhere. The man at the shop, whose last name was Cruz, was condescending and said, "If we had a sign out front that said Cruz's Tires, I would give you the price you want, but this is Mavis we don't do that here. Wal Mart will get you straight" He completely missed my point. I previously purchased Pirelli tires at that shop and was happy with my experience, so I gladly paid for them without hesitation. My main issue was that he couldn't stick to the original price or adequately explain how we went from $215 to almost $300. Horrible experience.
