Tread Carefully Gave false reason to deny road hazard in order to charge me for a tire that I didnt need.Im from Florida but currently in Virginia caring for my mother when my tire pressure light came on. Valvoline found a nail and said it just needed a patch, so I went to NTB in Lynchburg because I had purchased road hazard coverage.The rep inspected the tire and said there was a leaking patch, so Id need to buy a new tire. They asked where the patch had been done and stated that if it had been patched elsewhere, the road hazard warranty would be void. I told them if a patch was ever done, it wouldve been at NTB, since I paid for coverage and wouldnt go elsewhere. They said they had no record and Id need to pay $285 for a new tire.I called my home NTB store in Florida, and they confirmed that the road hazard does not require the patch to be done at an NTB location. When I explained this to the rep, they brought out the store manager, Larry.Thats when things went downhill. Larry came out and spoke to me in a way that felt like he was trying to gaslight me. He insisted I wasnt getting a free tire (which I never asked for), tried to make me feel like I was overreacting, and acted like he was giving me a great dealwhen in reality, he quoted me more than necessary for a tire I didnt even need. He also claimed my tread was too low, which was completely false.I had documentation from my 2/10/25 oil change showing greater than 7/32 tread, and when I returned to Valvoline, they confirmed the tire looked nearly new and measured 6/32well within warranty eligibility. They also confirmed the patch was minor and easily repairable.I then called NTB corporate (who were helpful) and made the decision to go to the Roanoke NTB on my own. They had no idea about my experience, yet treated me professionally, honored the road hazard, and patched the tire for free in under 45 minutesno pushback, no attitude, no issues.I have full documentation to support parts of this experience. I didnt need a new tire. My tread was solid. And my warranty should have been honored without resistance. After reading other reviews, I can see Im not the only one who has dealt with this kind of situation at this location.To corporate: this wasnt just a mistake, it felt like a deliberate attempt to upsell and take advantage of a customer. Larrys tone and behavior made it seem like I was being difficult, when in reality, I was simply standing on facts and policy. I left feeling dismissed, manipulated, and honestly disrespected.As long as Larry is the manager, I would not trust this NTB with my safety, my vehicle, or my money.
