Melvin's Tire & Auto in Johnston (2760 Hartford Ave), RI

I had my Audi SUV in for new tire, front endalignment and State inspection. They did a fantastic job and would give them a10 out of 10!

Needed an inspection and new tires, they got me in and taken care of right away. Always a great experience with these guys! Honest, kind and efficientwhat more could you ask for when it comes to dreaded car maintenance.

Got me in quickly. Very courteous. I was pleasantly surprised.

The staff at Melvin's tire helped me through a very scary situation! The front right axle had popped out of the socket, causing me to lose the ability to accelerate and made a terrible grinding sound! I was so shaken up from almost being slammed into by school bus, I could hardly gather my thoughts and explain what had just happened. The front desk staff understood my emotional state, and amount of questions, and got the manager Chris to come help. My car made it to the garage door before getting worse! At that point, Chris and a whole TEAM came outside and PUSHED my vehicle into the garage!! Once inside, I waited a very short time before Chris escorted to my vehicle with a flashlight to show me exactly what was the problem. I gave him the go ahead to move forward with the repair. The staff was on the phone finding the needed parts within minutes! Unfortunately, the parts needed were not available locally, but they were ordered and in transit immediately! It was going to be a few days before the parts were delivered. I was stranded at the repair shop. Before I was able to make phone calls for a ride home, Chris offered to order an Uber for me. I can't tell you how much I appreciated the compassion and care from the team, after I had just experienced the worst car trouble of my life!!

The trials and tribulations of living on a dirt road brought me expectantly to Melvin's this afternoon. With the recent thawing our road has become pretty deep with ruts. Which really isn't a problem, until it is. This latest ride from the house when pulling out onto 6 the car had a bit of a shimmy. Ehh, it'll probably go away. Onto 295, and onto 6 toward PVD at highway speeds it was even more so. So I ran my errands, cautiously. But on the way back home I remembered that my wife would need to drive the car tomorrow, so I'd better get it looked at. Being relatively new to the area, I don't know one shop from another. So when I saw the sign for Melvin's, it seemed like as good a place as any. Now, being an old school shade tree mechanic, I knew the various things it could be from just the mud on the rims throwing off the balance to bent suspension components. Willy was at the front desk when I walked in. I explained the situation, and he took me in right away. Well, a half hour or so later, I was driving out, not much poorer than when I walked in. Apparently the mud was probably the culprit, but a wheel weight may have been knocked off too. So all the wheels were de-mudded and re-balanced. The car rides like it should, and I'll certainly head to Melvin's the next time I go boggin down my road.Ah, New England when the snow and mud thaw!

Really awful ongoing experience, from misdiagnosing issues to putting defective tires on (they say they were egg shaped), forgetting to do work multiple times, forgetting to bring the truck back, broken promises left and right. New tires bought there have not held air, bearing needed to be replaced and they missed this while putting new tires on - telling me it may need a driveshaft (it doesnt). The front desk has a variety of staff, some very nice, and some extremely snarky and/or disinterested. Manager Chris tried to overcome some of these issues and couldnt. I was left without a reliable vehicle, or any at all, for weeks.
