Mavis Warranties

MANUFACTURER WARRANTY TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The following terms apply to the New Tire Limited Warranty, the Limited Mileage Warranty, and the Road Hazard Limited Warranty (“the Warranties”).

  1. Who gets the Warranties: The Warranties apply to the original purchaser (“you”) and may not be assigned, including to a subsequent purchaser or owner of any applicable motor vehicle.

  2. Where to go for replacement and/or service: The Warranties will be honored at all locations owned by Mavis Tire Supply LLC (“us,” “we” or “Mavis”). See complete store address list at https://www.mavis.com/locations/all-stores/. To obtain warranty service, you must present a legible physical or digital copy of your sales invoice/receipt and service record, along with the unserviceable tire(s). You may also contact our Consumer Solutions Team at (800) 757-4291.

  3. Consumer rights: The Warranties may give you certain rights, such as the right to receive a discounted replacement tire. You may also have other consumer rights under law, which may vary from state to state.

  4. Conditions & Exclusions: Nothing in the Warranties is intended as a representation that tire failure cannot occur. To the extent permitted by law, liability for consequential damages is disclaimed, and the durations of implied warranties (if any) are limited to the duration of the express warranties herein. However, some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts or the exclusion or limitation of consequential damages, so the aforementioned exclusion and limitation may not apply to you.

    1. Tire balancing services and any other applicable taxes and government-mandated charges are not included in the price of the replacement tire.

  5. Your Obligations: It is your obligation to properly maintain your tires by ensuring that, among other things, (1) tires are operated at the manufacturer’s recommended cool inflation pressures; (2) tires are rotated on a regular basis (every 5,000 miles is recommended); (3) tire and wheel assemblies are in balance; (4) vehicle steering, suspension, and drive-line components are well maintained; and, (5) the vehicle is in proper wheel alignment (collectively, “Proper Tire Care”). Any Mavis location will check and inspect tire condition, wheel alignment, and vehicle condition at any time without charge.

  6. Tread depth: For purposes of the Warranties, tread depth is measured vertically from the top of the tire’s rubber to the bottom of the tire’s deepest grooves in increments of 32nds of an inch. A tire’s remaining tread depth is considered “usable tread depth” until the depth measures less than 2/32nd of an inch.

NEW TIRE LIMITED WARRANTY:

What is covered and for how long:

We warrant that, with Proper Tire Care, your tire will not become unserviceable due to a defect in materials or workmanship. The warranty expires when the tire no longer has usable tread depth. If the tire becomes unserviceable due to a defect in material or workmanship, you will receive a replacement tire at a price determined according to the terms and conditions below.

Price determination:

The amount you will pay for a replacement tire, including free installation, is calculated by multiplying the percentage of wear by the original purchase price. Please see the below graphic (“Percentage of Wear Graphic”) for a representation of how the price of the replacement tire is calculated:

tire tread depth

What is not covered:

  1. Tires mounted on any vehicle other than the vehicle on which they were first mounted.

  2. Tires that become unserviceable due to tire uniformity complaints (e.g., when lack of tire uniformity causes excessive vibration of the vehicle when driving after the first 2/32nds of an inch of tread wear).

  3. Tires that become unserviceable due to conditions resulting from: (1) road hazards, such as cuts, snags, punctures, or impact breaks; (2) improper installation, wheel misalignment, or tire/wheel assembly imbalance; (3) consumer damage (such as failing to uphold Proper Tire Care and vehicle maintenance), misuse, abuse, or accidents; or (4) commercial use of the tires.

LIMITED MILEAGE (TREADWEAR) WARRANTY:

What is covered and for how long:

We warrant that, with Proper Tire Care, your tire(s) will attain the mileage specified on your purchase receipt. If such tire does not attain the specified mileage figure, then you will receive a pro-rata credit for the purchase of a replacement tire, according to the terms below.

Replacement tire price determination:

The pro-rata credit is calculated by multiplying the percentage of mileage not attained by the original purchase price. This credit will be deducted from the current selling price of the replacement tire.

What is not covered:

  1. Defects in workmanship and/or materials.

  2. Failures caused by road hazards, such as cuts, snags, punctures, or impact breaks.

  3. Tires used on special applications, such as light trucks (unless specifically covered according to the purchase receipt), vans, or recreational vehicles.

  4. Damage due to failure to uphold Proper Tire Care.

  5. Tires damaged by fires, wrecks, obstructions on the vehicle, or willful or malicious damage.

  6. Repairable punctures or tires run flat.

  7. A bubble in the tire’s sidewall or other cosmetic damage.

  8. Any commercial use of the tires.

  9. Dealer services, such as mounting and balancing, and applicable state and federal (FET) taxes.

  10. Tires mounted on any vehicle other than the vehicle on which they were first mounted.

ROAD HAZARD LIMITED WARRANTY:

What is covered and for how long:

If you have purchased this warranty, we warrant that, with Proper Tire Care, if a tire becomes unserviceable as a result of road hazards (e.g., cuts, snags, bruises, impact breaks, or other un-repairable punctures), consumers are entitled to a replacement tire at a cost calculated according to the terms below. The duration of this warranty is the shorter of (i) 3 years from the purchase date or (ii) until the given tire retains less than 2/32nds of an inch of tread depth.

Replacement tire price determination:

The amount you will pay for a replacement tire is calculated by multiplying the percentage of wear by the original purchase price. Please see the Percentage of Wear Graphic (above) for a representation of how the price is calculated.

What is not covered:

  1. Damage due to failure to uphold Proper Tire Care.

  2. Tires with cosmetic damage.

  3. Tires removed from service due to being overloaded or intentional abuse.

  4. Tires that can safely be fixed/repaired.

  5. Road service, towing costs, and other incidental damage.

  6. Dealer services, such as mounting and balancing, and applicable state and federal (FET) taxes.

  7. Tires mounted on any vehicle other than the vehicle on which they were first mounted.

NON-TIRE MECHANICAL LABOR AND PARTS WARRANTY TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The following terms apply to the Mechanical Labor and Parts Warranty (“the Warranty”).

  1. Who Gets the Warranty: The Warranty applies to the original purchaser (“you”) of Mavis services and may not be assigned, including to a subsequent purchaser or owner of any applicable motor vehicle.

  2. Where to go for Service and/or Replacement: The Warranty will be honored at all locations owned by Mavis Tire Supply LLC (“us,” “we” or “Mavis”). See complete store address list at https://www.mavis.com/locations/all-stores/. To obtain warranty service, you must present a legible physical or digital copy of your sales invoice/receipt and service record, along with the part covered by the warranty. You may also contact our Consumer Solutions Team at (800) 757-4291.

  3. Consumer Rights: The Warranty may give you certain rights, such as the right to receive replacement mechanical service parts, brake pads, or brake shoes. You may also have other consumer rights under law, which may vary from state to state.

  4. Conditions and Exclusions: Nothing in the Warranty is intended as a representation that mechanical service part, brake pad, or brake shoe failure cannot occur.

  5. Your Obligations: It is your obligation to properly maintain your vehicle (and the parts in or on the vehicle) by ensuring that, among other things, your vehicle receives reasonable necessary maintenance and is subjected only to normal use (collectively, “Proper Vehicle Care”). This Warranty will not apply to your serviced vehicle if it has been damaged by abnormal use, misuse, neglect, accident, or alteration.

  6. What is covered and for how long: If you purchase mechanical services from us, and we provide you with the mechanical service parts outlined in the tables below while performing those services on your vehicle, unless otherwise stated, those parts are warranted according to the terms outlined in the tables below. The first chart below provides details on warranties provided for all mechanical service partsexcept for batteries, which are detailed in the second chart below.

Details on Mechanical Service Part Warranties (Excluding Batteries)

For each part outlined in the chart below, Mavis provides both a “part warranty,” under which you may be entitled to a free replacement part, and a “labor warranty,” under which you may be entitled to free mechanical labor for that service or the installation of that part. For example, where the duration of a warranty is listed as “12/12,000,” that means the warranty lasts for 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. Similarly, where the duration of a warranty is listed as “3/3,000,” that means the warranty lasts for 3 months or 3,000 miles, whichever comes first. Where your part has a “lifetime” part warranty, you are always entitled to a free replacement part, but if the duration of the labor warranty for that part has expired, you will be charged at the then-current labor rate for mechanical labor on that part (e.g., installation).

Details on Battery Warranties

As reflected in the table below, battery warranties include (1) a free replacement period; (2) a prorated credit period from the end of the free replacement period through month 60; and (3) a “labor warranty,” under which you may be entitled to free mechanical labor for the installation of a replacement battery. For example, for a battery with a free replacement period of 24 months, you would receive a free replacement if the battery requires replacement any time within the first two years. Thereafter, you would receive a credit calculated as follows: (60 - month of battery’s life) ÷ 60 × original battery cost. In our example, if you purchased a battery for $200, and the battery required replacement in month 35, the credit would be: (60 - 35) ÷ 60 × $200 = $83.33. If the duration of the labor warranty for that battery has expired, you will be charged at the then-current labor rate for mechanical labor on the installation of that battery.
