These are probably the best snow tires I have ever had. I plan to buy another set for my wife's car. The handling is excellent. I tried a few tests in an empty parking lot with about 3 inches of snow on the ground, the tires are absolutely great. They held traction really well. The response is crisp and exact and the car goes where you steer it. Traction on snowy and slushy roads is great. Road noise is what you expect with studs, no surprise it sounds like you are driving on cornflakes. The ride on interstates is good. These tires have more than met my expectations.
I do around 200 miles of driving on a daily basis for my business. I cannot afford to let winter weather get in the way. These Hakkapeliittas are phenomenal in the snow. My Prius now can get traction immediately when I hit the gas. Even more important is the braking and cornering performance in snowy or icy conditions. I drive through the Appalachian mountains in New York, CT and Massachusetts. These tires help keep me in my lane whether I am going down a long hill with switchbacks or if I am headed up the steepest of slopes. And for the icing on the cake, I am still typically averaging 48 mpg with these on.
We have not had the usual kind of winter where I need these tires. They are the 1st tires I have had where they come equipped with the studs from the manufacturer, and they are superior to any I have had in the past. It is all I will buy in the future. Not one stud has fallen out, unlike my past experiences when the mechanic installs the studs. It's about time they came like this!
